Survivor since 2012
Christina, I'm about to have the last of 6 ACT treatments -- Adriamycin, Cytoxin, and Taxotere. I've had trouble with Taxotere since my first treatment, but if you read other posts you'll see that some people just sail through it. The side effects I've had include leg swelling, red spots on my torso/arms/face (they sting but don't itch), and the equivalent of head allergies (drippy nose, sinus, etc.)
I also get a Neulasta shot the day after chemo. Between the two, I have had terrible bone pain. After treatments 1-3 it was my legs that hurt. The last two treatments it has been my torso -- ribs, hips, shoulders. Fortunately it doesn't last the entire 3 weeks between treatments -- more like 4-5 days. My onc also is very insistent that I stay on top of all side effects, so I get decent pain medicine that gets me through it.
So are there "common" side effects of Taxotere? I think everyone's different. But throughout my chemo when I've raised the issue of various side effects, the docs and nurses all nod their heads and say "Taxotere."
