I am 45 years old and was diagnosed with DCIS grade 3, estrogen and progesterone positive 90% on June 18, 2013. I had a lumpectomy July 15th. I found out a week later that my margins are not clear in 4 parts. I decided at that point to have a bilateral mastectomy, because 3 years in a row I have had to have biopsy and have papillomas removed.
I had my surgery December 12th 2013, on the 20th my doctors informed me that I am now cancer free and I will not have to do any hormone therapy. Through out the process I started to doubt if I was making the right choice. When my doctor reviewed my pathology report with me she told me that in the cancerous breast there were several papillomas and abnormal cells in the other breast. I'm so glad I made this choice
