I've had my implants put in for my bilateral reconstruction, I didn't need expanders or transflap. I'm so happy with the result. I'm not sure about bras though, the surgeon said I didn't need to wear anything but it's only a week after the surgery??

I was told to wear underwire bras 23/7 after my reconstruction the underwire helped shape the breast during healing. It also felt better to have support compared to wearing nothing at all each plastic surgeon has their own way of doing things if you don't understand the rational ask that he explain

Glad you are happy with the results! My PS told me not to wear underwire bras. If you decide to wear a bra, you may want to have someone measure you to be sure you are buying the right size. Many department stores have someone who can do it. Keep the questions coming, we are here for you!!!

My front looks perky and pre kids. My backside is 59 and really needs to go to gym.

Jo, every Dr is different in this. I had to wear a binder, then sports bra 24/7. Eventually I could sleep without it. Then nothing at all if I wanted. Was just told to be sure it fit right. Wire or not, you want the cup to fit around your boob. I couldn't wait to be able to wear a bra again. Trust me, I got over it quickly. I LOVE my new boobs! So you check with your Dr if your not sure if you should wear anything while healing, then do what you want. Prayers to you.

My PS told me not to wear underwire bras anymore. I wore a surgical bra while my incisions healed and then I wore a soft cotton tank top until I felt ready for a reg bra. Now that I'm doing well, sometimes I wear a bra and sometimes I don't. Depends on what wearing.

I'm guessing your surgeon said that as they need to heal some and a bra probably wouldn't be very comfortable right now. I wore a post surgical camisole after my unilateral mastectomy but opted to take the form out of the side where the breast was removed as it just wasn't comfortable at the time but knew my remaining breast needed some support.
