Hi Jennifer I have grade 2 Idc and dcis and just had a lumpectomy. It was a hard decision, I thought I'd always have a mastectomy if I was faced with this but after getting several doctor opinions I went with the lumpectomy. Ill be starting chemo in two weeks and then radiation. I just turned 40 as well. If u feel like talking more let me know I can give u my email. Xoxo

I'm 40 and have stage 2B IDC and DCIS. Not in my lymph nodes and negative for BRCA. My drs suggested 4 AC chemo followed by 4 Taxotere chemo. I have 1 left. Then I'll have lumpectomy and radiation. Seemed to make sense to me. I can no longer feel my tumor and it was pretty big. This seems aggressive enough to me but if for some reason it doesn't work then ill go dm.

My team waited for that test to be back. Neg for them meant lumpectomy. They were still able to take lymph nodes out. Listen to what reasons they provide. My onc suggested we could chop and dice a breast as need If the breast is gone and reoccurrence happens then it has only to go to functioning organ. Seemed logical to me

Just do what is best for you and your family. I was 49 when diagnosed with TNBC and I opted for a bilateral mastectomy. I have my expanders put in on July 16. Just do your research, talk to your family and make the best decision for you. God bless.

Brca was neg for me. Idc grade 3 and stage 2. I chose bilateral mastectomy to make sure bc I wanna be around for my kids but everyone has to make their own decision. I asked all the medical staff everywhere I went on the odds and risks. Good luck :)

Do what you feel comfortable with. Before I knew my brca results, I chose the most aggressive treatment. Turns out my brca came back mutated on both, so I did the right thing in my mind.

I think it is a very personal decision. I suggest doing a lot of research, and doing what feels right to you after that. My doctor recommended partial mastectomy to me. The survival rates for lumpectomy followed by radiation are slightly better than mastectomy for stage 1 and 2 bc. But some women feel more at peace having a mastectomy, and I don't think I've ever heard someone say they had regrets either. Good luck making an educated decision that you feel comfortable with.

If you can do a lumpectomy do it.... Your breast is an organ - good for heart health, good for hormone balance... And of course it is part of your sexuality and you.... All results show that results are just as good with lumpectomy ... But each if us is unique and needs to come to the decision that we are comfortable with..- and if the cancer lets you have the choice to get out if chemo or rads by having more surgery-- . I had lumpectomy and node dissection for stage 3 grade 3 her2 plus estrogen plus and node positive - breast looks perkier then my other one and my nipple is fine!
