    Stage 4 Patient
I have stage 3c breast cancer. Oncologists can be different in their methods of treatment. Most later stages of breast cancer are treated with chemo first. I had 4 rounds of dose dense Adriamiacin/Cytoxin followed by 4 dose dense rounds of Taxol. They like to bring out the "big guns" for our stage. I was allowed to recover a few weeks after chemo. I had a new PET scan, and just had a bilateral mastectomy a few days ago. When I heal from my surgery, I will go through 6.5 weeks of radiation. Finally ....because of my being ER/PR ....I'll be put on a hormone blocker. Hopefully when I finish my radiation I'll be in remission. :) Good luck to you!

Thanks so much Kim!! Yes, I finally finished chemo 3 weeks ago & just had a great PET scan. My radiation is next. I'm having a fluid problem still from my mastectomy in Oct. and as soon as I get my surgical oncologist & my radiation oncologist on the same page....I'll begin my radiation. So happy to hear you'll be a "chemo grad" next week!!! We're getting there...one step at a time! Hugs Kim. :)

hi Diane, I did the same course of treatment as you in 2009. My presurgery scan showed the tumars had srunk although not all were gone. The surgery was a great success in removing all remaining tumors. I also, had fluid after surgery. i could hear it sloshing across my chest. I had 27 lymphnodes removed and 4 were posative. I did not get a compression sleeve right away and I do have issues with Lyphedima. But, I am alive and I am feeling great. HUGS from Alice
